BARAKA
“BARAKA” – film with live music
14.09 (Sunday), St. John’s Centre, 7.00 pm, free entrance
Ron Fricke’s “Baraka” (1992) is a film reflection showing the beauty of different places in the world, the condition of human spirituality, the miracle of birth, life and death, but also pointing on human inclination for self-destruction. It is a journey that rediscovers the Earth through “plunging into the nature, the history, the human mind, to the boundaries of the infinite”.
The amazing spiritual work of Fricke, screened in St. John's Church, will gain a new musical dimension prepared – especially for this occasion - by the best jazz, electro and improvising musicians in Poland.
The concert will become a natural supplement to the film – both the number of instruments and their configurations will be fluent, subordinated to the rhythm and character of particular scenes. The main theme of the concert, which was composed earlier, will be complemented with improvisations.

The project was realized thanks to the support from the Marshall Office of the Pomeranian Voivodeship.
THE LINE-UP: MARCIN DYMITER – emiter, Polish Improvisers Orchestra, voice_electronic duo (electronics, guitar), WOJCIECH JACHNA – Sing Sing Penelope, Contemporary Noise Quintet (trumpet), PAWEŁ NOWICKI – Kobiety (vibrafone, marimba), Tomasz Chołoniewski (percussion instruments)
